Steps

  1. 1Create or sign in to your account on the eCBP Portal (e.cbp.dhs.gov/brokers).
  2. 2Confirm you may sit the exam: U.S. citizen, at least 18 on exam day, not an officer or employee of the federal government (19 CFR 111.13(b)). Good moral character and age 21 are licence requirements, not exam requirements.
  3. 3Register for the sitting and pay the $390 exam fee during the registration window.
  4. 4Watch for the candidate webinar invitation — CBP emails it the day after registration closes, and the webinar covers exam-day admin and recent changes.
  5. 5Choose your test location when self-selection opens on the vendor's site. This is a separate step from registering, and it is where locations run out.
  6. 6Prepare your paper references and print your exam-day checklist before the date.
